Write On! Creative Writing Center is now offering editing services! We will be offering three levels of editing: proofreading, line editing, and developmental editing. Whether you’re writing a short story, an article, or a novel, we want to help make it shine! If you’re unsure what level of editing your work needs, we can help you figure that out! Available Services
Proofreading
Proofreading services are for pieces that just need to be combed over for basic grammar and spelling mistakes. We will help fix sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, and syntax. Notes will be given in the form of track changes on Microsoft Word OR suggested edits on Google Docs.
Developmental Editing
Developmental editing services look at the overall flow of the story. This service focuses on character development, plot structure, pacing, etc. It does not look at individual lines or the quality of writing on a technical level. Notes will be given in the form of an edit letter. No in-document comments included.
Line Editing
Line editing services are for pieces that need a close look on a sentence level. This level of editing looks closely at a writer’s style and word choice, consistency of voice, and effectiveness of content. It does not look at big-picture issues. Notes will be given in the form of sideline comments on Microsoft Word or Google Docs.

Proofreading:
0 - 5,000 words = $15.00
5,000 - 10,000 words = $30.00
10,000 - 15,000 words = $45.00
Add $15 for every 5,000 words beyond this
Developmental Editing:
0 - 5,000 words = $20.00
5,000 - 10,000 words = $40.00
10,000 - 15,000 words = $60.00
Add $20 for every 5,000 words beyond this
Line Editing:
0 - 5,000 words = $30.00
5,000 - 10,000 words = $60.00
10,000 - 15,000 words = $90.00
Add $30 for every 5,000 words beyond this
Scheduling
To schedule, select the editing service option below and then the word count option that reflects your project. If your project exceeds 15,000 works for any of the services, add the number of "5,000 words beyond" option until your word count is reached.
Delivery dates are based on word count and schedule. Our goal for delivery is 1 week for every 10,000 words if discussing developmental editing or proofreading and 2 weeks for every 10,000 words if discussing line editing.
Expedited service is available for an additional $30 fee and is subject to the editor's availability. Please contact us before purchasing.
Materials
Please know the word count of your project. Projects should be sent to your editor as a Google Doc or a Microsoft Word document.
